The Society
The Cunninghame Graham Society was established in October 2013. We work towards informing the world about the political and literary achievements of one of Scotland's greatest sons.
The Society’s aims are to:
-
manage a non-partisan organisation that seeks to act as a focus for the many individuals who are interested in Robert Bontine Cunninghame Graham.
-
develop an interest in, and knowledge of, the life and works of one of Scotland's most remarkable but overlooked sons, and to actively promote this through events, lectures, and articles.
-
seek out means by which his written works can be brought to the attention of the reading public.
-
establish an archive of his written works, works about him, and references to him, for researchers and future generations.
-
establish links with European societies who are actively promoting the works of indigenous writers, with the intention of exchanging ideas and goodwill, and provide educational opportunities.
-
establish a permanent RBCG memorial in a central Scottish location.
The Society is managed by: Jamie Jauncey (chair); Chris Dixon (secretary); Gerry McGarvey (treasurer); Alan Riach (literary advisor); Lachie Munro (newsletter editor).
